Devin's 8th birthday

Devin is 8!  Being an even year, he was able to have a friends party, but instead opted to go to Disneyland with his best buddy, Jack and skip school for a day.  He's been with Jack in school since his first year in kindergarten.  They both were held back together, have been in the same classes each year and go to speech together.  Such a sweet boy and nice family.
Disney had begun to decorate for Halloween.  It was a beautiful day with small crowds.  We got there at about 10:30 and left at 7:00.  They had soooooo much fun!
In Star Tours.
Eating our brought-from-home lunch.
Jacks parents sent each boy with a Disney gift card, so Devin bought the spray bottle he's been wanting every time we go and Jack bought a hat.
Took a ride down Main Street.
The firetruck below saw Devin's Disney Happy Birthday pin on his shirt and honked the Happy Birthday Song to him.  :)
Back at school, on Friday, Kirk and I brought popsicles for the class and everyone sang Happy Birthday to him while Mrs. Hayes had him lead the song.
With all the birthday money he got he bought a Penny Board.  He's been wanting one ever since Justin bought his a couple months ago.
He chose a mint chip ice cream cake. Can't believe he's 8!  He'll be baptized in just a few short months.
Happy birthday, Mev!  We love you!

Avery for President!

Avery ran for Student Body President a couple of weeks ago.  She made it to the final 2.  Way to go, Avery!  She was sad at not making it all the way, but we all know she did great and that making it as far as she did is a big accomplishment.  She also tried out for her school News program - The Knightly News and made it! She will start in about 6 weeks (they do it in shifts to give more students an opportunity).  Love our little go getter!
Thank you, Donna, for Photoshopping this picture for us!
She made this shirt for herself and an orange one for her campaign manager.
More posters for final round.
I surprised her at pick up when I showed up with this on three of my car windows.  :)

Weekend getaway to Mission Bay

Mark and Sylvia very generously sent us away for the weekend to Mission Bay a week and a half after we got back from Colorado.  We tell them over and over they don't need to do that and we are happy to take care of their mom, but they do it anyway.  So very sweet!  And we had the best time!  We stayed at the Hilton right on the bay and it was a true resort.
We left right after school on Friday, got there, checked in and went to dinner.  Then headed over to the pool.  Just look at how gorgeous!
This was the view from our room.
And we got to enjoy the fireworks from Sea World each night from our balcony.  Bonus!
Saturday morning we went from a walk along the bay.
Stopped at the park for a minute...
And then went to lunch at OB Noodle House in Ocean Beach that was highlighted on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.  Avery and Devin had Jack in the Box.  It was yummy!
 Our room
After lunch we headed to the bay and rented a kayak and paddle board for a couple of hours.  They had a blast!
We invited our camping buddies, the Forrest's, out for the afternoon and they got there around 3:00.  It was a lot of fun.
Headed over to the pool when we got tired of the bay.
Ended the day with dinner at Chili's.  Fun day!
Sunday morning we headed to the pool for an hour before we checked out.
One last picture from our balcony and then it was check out time.
What a great weekend!  Thank you to Mark and Sylvia!  It felt like we were at some exotic Caribbean island resort!
