Day five we left The Grand Canyon and headed to Albuquerque on our way to Alamosa, CO. On our way we stopped at the Meteor Crater. I went there as a kid and still remember it, so wanted the kids to experience it. Yep, it's still a big hole in the ground! :) And this was the day the rain started for us. Rain every single day the rest of the trip!
Another stop at the Petrified Forest. This would have been so much better if it hadn't been raining. It kind of dulled The Painted Desert and made it so we couldn't walk out to the area that had the petrified wood. It poured!
Waiting for the rain to subside so we could go explore. Didn't happen. Had to brave a little rain to take the next couple of pictures. It at least lightened up a bit for the pics, but then dumped again right after.
Once in our hotel in Albuquerque we headed out to dinner (Chili's) and then to see the temple. On our way back we were treated to a lightning show in the distance.
This is also where I left my eye glasses, called the hotel only 4 hours after we left and the maids never turned the in. Grrrrr!
