The Osmond Brothers

Over the weekend I went to Las Vegas with my mom to see The Osmond Brothers as her birthday present. I grew up watching Donny and Marie and let's just let it out right here - I was going to marry Donny. I also enjoyed their brother's quite a bit and my mom has always loved them. So, when I read that they were going to be in Vegas for a short gig I booked a hotel room and away my mom and I went for about 36 hours. It was nice to do a whole lot of nothing. Really! We got there around 1:30 and did this until dinner at 6:00.
I am now completely up to date on all the celebrity gossip and proud of it. :-) What a total waste of brain power, but it felt so good. After dinner we went to see the show. It was crazy! As soon as the lights dimmed and the show almost started a bunch of (older'ish and old) ladies rushed the stage and stood at the edge like a bunch of teenagers. Seriously? Are you all for real? I have to admit, though, that I went to join them during the second song to get a few good photo's and it was kind of fun being so close. Anyway, it was a lot of fun listening to all the old songs and singing along and remembering my childhood. It made us decide to go back in January to see Donny and Marie. Yep! You read it right. I'm going to another Osmond show. I'm that much of a dork. AND Kirk just informed me that he secretly bought me Barry Manilow concert tickets for my birthday next month. What a guy! I love Barry! I do like quite the music, don't I? The thing is I like to sit and enjoy a relaxing concert and not go home with a headache. Gosh, I'm old. :-) Here are some pictures of our rockin' concert. Ha!
And on Sunday before we left we went to New York, New York for lunch and out in the 300 degree heat to walk over to the Coca Cola Store. Then it was off to home and sit in traffic. Nice little get-away!
While I was away it was Kirk's nephew's birthday. Matthew turned 4 on Saturday and they all went over to celebrate with him and swim in the pool. The kids had a great time from what they told me. Kirk forgot the camera, so I don't have any pictures, darn it. Happy birthday, Matthew!

Golf date

When given the choice to either go to Disneyland or golfing, Justin chose golfing as his date with his daddy. He just loves to golf! Of course he was anxious to play with his new set of golf clubs that Kirk had gotten him a few weeks back. He had outgrown the set that his Uncle Mark and Aunt Sylvia had bought him some years back, so with a credit at Roger Dunn's Kirk was able to buy him a nice bag and new clubs. They said they had a great time and Kirk says that Justin's swing has gotten really good. What a nice activity to enjoy together! It looks like Devin has the bug too because he's constantly in the backyard swinging a club with a plastic ball. Maybe this will be what the Sumida boys do a lot of in the future together.

Back to Disneyland

Blockout days are over. It was a long summer where that is concerned! Yesterday was modified day, so we packed up the kids and headed over to our favorite place. It was the last week of the electrical parade, so I wanted to be sure the kids were able to see that. I love that parade! It was very busy, but we still were able to hit about 5 rides or so. I only took one picture this time. Guess it's becoming old hat now. :-)

Back to school

Today was the first day back to school. (I will save my cheerleading for another time) Justin is now in 4th grade, if you can believe that! Avery is in 1st grade (oh my!) and Devin is back at 1, 2, 3 Learn Preschool 3 times a week in the mornings. Avery and Devin were excited to go back, but Justin is at that age that it isn't so exciting anymore. He's also at that age where he's embarrassed to be seen with his mom and therefore put on a brave face and was ready for me to leave him at his school door. But I wasn't ready! He's still my little boy and I wanted to stay there and see him into the classroom. But with Avery and Devin still to drop off I gave him his way and reluntantly left him to his new adventures. I did get to quickly meet his teacher on her way out of the classroom for a quick run somewhere. She seems nice. Then it was Avery's turn. I got her settled into her desk and met her teacher, who also seems very nice and then had to run off to drop Devin at his school. He was excited to see Ms. Melissa and Ms. Carol again and immediately started telling them about his trip to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. It's like there was no time lapsed. After that I met up with a couple of friends for breakfast to celebrate the new school year. Fun! Here's to a new and wonderful 2009/2010! I only got a couple pictures of Justin because heaven forbid I take a picture of him in front of his friends! Ha

Meteor shower

No pictures with this post, but wanted to write about our fun adventure the other night. On Tuesday night...well, technically Wednesday morning, we were expecting a meteor shower. The kids were really excited and wanted to see it, so at 1:00 am we woke Justin and Avery up (Devin wouldn't have understood how to lay there quietly and patiently), laid a blanket in the back yard and watched 'falling stars' for about a half hour. We saw about a dozen or so in that amount of time, but I'm sure there were many more that we missed and it was a lot of fun and hopefully something they'll remember for a long time. Did you know that it happens every year around the same time? We just may make this a tradition!
